There are many of us who suffer with back pain. Are you suffering in silence, or have you sought professional help?
It’s estimated that 8 in every 10 people in the UK are affected by back pain at some point in their lives.
Back pain is very common and thankfully, it often improves within a few weeks or months.
Lumbago is pain in the lower back. This is particularly common, but not exclusive. Pain can be felt along the spine, and from the neck down to the hips.
So what should we do to help ourselves? In years gone by, people took to their bed for weeks on end. This is not the advice given today.
We are encouraged to keep moving. This includes:
- Continuing our daily activities
- Exercises and stretches
- Walking
- Swimming
- Yoga
- Pilates
Taking an anti-inflammatory painkiller such as ibuprofen can also help.
Using a hot or cold compress can provide short-term relief.
So what about the power of positive thought? I truly believe that staying optimistic and understanding your pain, can help you to recover quicker!
Sometimes, you will need to seek professional help. We know our own bodies, so if you need help, then please ask for it. Do not suffer unnecessarily!
